What LocoMotive CrossFit is for you:

What distinguishes us from many CrossFit affiliates today is that our primary goal is not Group Exercise classes. Yes, we have group classes for our experienced members – members whose baseline fitness and technical skills are sound.

Instead, at LocoMotive CrossFit you will have a personal coach for life. Read more about the benefits of having a personal coach here.

We have spent 10 years learning about what works and what doesn’t work in terms of getting people fit, and perhaps more importantly, we have learned what works in order to keep people motivated and injury-free so they can stay fit for life.

Through the Madlab Business Group, we have collected and analyzed data from more than 100 affiliates, as well as from other strength and conditioning and business experts, to discover universal best fitness practices.

Here’s what we know today:

We believe what Greg Glassman, the founder of CrossFit, articulated in the CrossFit Journal article ‘What is Fitness’. He suggested that in order to gain fitness – be it fitness for life or as an elite athlete – you need to do constantly varied, functional movements at a high intensity.

And nobody said mastering functional movements was easy. So while intensity is important, it’s more important to develop mechanics and consistency first. Read more about the kind of movements that get you fit here. Read more about mobility, and injury prevention here. Read more about the 10 general physical skills here. Read more about nutrition here.

Glassman’s concept of fitness, combined with what we have learned through trial and error over the years, tells us that people learn most effectively the higher the coach to student ratio. Ideally, most effective learning happens in a one-on-one, or at the very least a two-on-one environment.

We’ve also learned that higher coach to student ratios improve longevity and long-term movement patterns, as well as reduce injuries, and help to foster a healthy social community.

Training in a one-on-one or two-on-one environment also means that when it comes time for you to graduate to group classes with other experienced members, you know your body, you know how to scale your movements, and you feel safe and comfortable attending class.

In short, our school’s system will help you get fit and stay fit, for life.

What LocoMotive CrossFit is for our apprentice coaches:

Becoming fit takes time, and so does becoming a fitness professional.

We take the time to develop our coaches into technically sound, knowledgeable professionals, who are entrepreneurs within our facility. From shadowing senior coaches and eventually developing their own stable of students, to taking both practical and written exams, our coaches log four years of in-depth practical and academic training before they can become head coaches at LocoMotive CrossFit .

From Olympic weightlifting, power lifting and gymnastics coaches, to sports nutritionists, mobility experts, exercise physiologists, and sales and business trainers, our coaches have access to all the experts they could ever want at their fingertips.

By the time they graduate, our coaches are some of the most knowledgeable fitness professionals around, eager to share their knowledge with you, as well as to pass it down to future fitness professionals.
